Emory Clayson Grubbs, 71, of East Palatka passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness.

Emory was born in Jacksonville and had lived in East Palatka for 48 years coming from Picolata and Colee Cove in St. Johns County. He had been employed by Hudson Pulp and Paper prior to working with Putnam County where he served 21 years as a maintenance superintendent. He had been a member of Pineland Masonic Lodge #86 - York Rite of Palatka, Scottish Rite of Jacksonville, Shrine Morocco Temple of Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff Association, and the National Rifle Association. He was a past member of the East Palatka Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing at the beach, camping, hunting, and watching mullet jumping and manatees at his home on the river. He was a very kind and outgoing man. He had a lot of very close friends and never met a stranger. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Eppie Mae Grubbs; a nephew, Kevin DiCarlo; and a sister, Linda DiCarlo.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Louise Grubbs of East Palatka; a son, Robert Paul Grubbs (Robin) of East Palatka; a step-son, Kevin Goodwin of Seville; three daughters, Teresa Fay Flanders (Roddy) of Orange Springs, Kimberly Null (Carl) of Seville, and Letitia McFarlan of San Mateo; a brother, Bobby Grubbs (Connie) of Atlantic Beach; a brother-in-law, Alan DiCarlo of East Palatka; two nephews, Carlton Anthony “Tony” DiCarlo and wife, Beata of East Palatka and David Uptain of East Palatka; eleven grandchildren, Wesley Grubbs and wife Denise, Abby Flanders, Clayson Null, Lilly Thorton, Shawn Bass, Nathan Bass, Roy Collins, Max Collins, Krysta Harrell, Jenna Lane, and Lexie Lane; and two great grandchildren, Ryder Grubbs and Chloe Thomas.

Private Services will be held at a later date.
