CPO, Lawrence Joseph “Joe” Oreskovich, Jr. (US Navy Ret.) 63, of Interlachen, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 in Starke.

A native of Hastings, Nebraska, Joe served for 30 years in the U.S. Navy, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He most recently worked as a truck driver for Williams Brothers in Starke. Joe was a former Commander of the Interlachen American Legion, Post 293. He was also active in his church, the First United Methodist Church of Interlachen. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing with his dad and playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Linn and a grandson, Tristin Joseph Anderson.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Debbie Oreskovich of Hawthorne; mother, Mary Linn of Kentucky; a step-daughter, Nichole Calvert of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frederick Mitchell Oreskovich of Interlachen, Larry (Melissa) Linn of Mascot, TN and Terry Lee (Ginger) Oreskovich, Sr. of Orlando; a sister, Mary Jane Moody of Texas; 7 nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28th, at First United Methodist Church of Interlachen with Chaplain David Miller officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside committal services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 1st, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Full military honors bestowed by the U.S. Navy.
