In addition to the service announcement above, the family has requested that we post the following additional information about Mary:

Mary Ann Wyomie Clanton was born on December 20th, 1948 to Mary Royster and Cleveland Baker Clanton in Savannah, Georgia. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 27, 2019, after a year of prolonged illness.

Mary moved to Palatka in the 80s and lived in the Semi Independent Apartments serviced by the ARC of Putnam County. It was there that she met her loving husband Todd Katz. Mary Ann Wyomie Clanton married Todd Anders Katz on March 20, 1993. He was the light of her life for 26 years. Mary and Todd owned their home in Palatka for about 20 years.

Starting in 1988 Mary worked on a janitorial crew through The ARC of Putnam County, cleaning the Navy Base and was employed by Challenge Industries for more than a decade. After that she went to work at the ARC cleaning their offices. She was proud of doing a quality job, and even saved the life of one of the staff there. She was happy to retire in 2012, and rejoiced in being “just a housewife”.

In 2013 Mary and Todd moved from Palatka to Jacksonville. They own a lovely condominium on the west side of town and are supported by APD providers, family, and a host of loving friends which allows them to live independently. Mary believed wholeheartedly that Jesus was her Savior; and enjoyed her relationship with Pastor Cory and the congregation at Yukon Baptist Church. Heaven has gotten a new Angel, with a brilliant smile and a beautiful heart.

Mary lived one day at a time and her life was full of hope, love, joy, faith and determination. She was open to anyone who needed a hug or a listening ear. Everyone that met her described her with the same word, “Sweet”, and she certainly was that.

Mary was kind, intuitive, loving, and very helpful. Her smile and presence will be missed by many, and she will never be forgotten. Mary is survived by her Husband Todd; her cat Precious; Mother in Law, Vivian Katz; Sister in Law Sherma Katz; Brother in Law, Roy Davis and his Wife Terri, their children Brian Davis, & Kristi Perry, her husband Josh and their children, Wyatt, Carter and Hudson. Because of her sweet nature, she also leaves behind many loving friends that are genuinely going to miss her.

The family of Mary Katz would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has prayed, visited or provided words of encouragement and comfort at this time. Thank you to each and every one of you. You filled Mary’s life with joy, and she loved you all!

Mary would appreciate donations in her name to the following organizations that helped make her life significantly better.
