Carl R. Amon, Sr.

Carl Raymond Amon, Sr., 72, of Palatka, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.

Carl was born in Hanoverton, OH and had lived in Palatka for 37 years coming from Cleveland, OH. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was a truck driver. He loved fishing, mechanics, tinkerering and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Geraldine Amon; a brother, Dickie Amon and a sister, Carolyn Sowell.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra Amon; a son, Raymond Amon, Jr.; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Bridgett and John Amis, Becky and Jimmy Marshall, and Beverly Amon; two step-sons and spouses, Robert and Tammy Scott, and Michael and Tina Scott; a half-brother, David Amon; a half-sister, Colleen Amon, a step-sister, Johann Pickles; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services with military honors bestowed by the U.S. Marine Corps will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Alfred Johns, Jr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project,4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
