Wayne E. Ricks

Wayne Ellis Ricks, 89, of Palatka, was called suddenly by the Lord Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at his residence.
Wayne was born in Bradenton and had been a longtime resident of Palatka coming from Sanford. In his earlier years he had worked on his uncle’s farm in Georgia. In the late 1940’s and early 1950’s he had worked at Florida Furniture Industries in the plant and driving a truck. He later worked for Georgia Pacific Corp. on a Kraft Paper machine and retired in 1993 after 43 years of service. Wayne was a member of Francis Baptist Church where was Chairman of the Grounds Committee and was a Board Member of the Building Committee. He was a faithful member of the church. Wayne loved gardening, fishing, camping, traveling to the Smokey Mountains, his family and his church family. He was loved dearly by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Spencer Ricks and Dovie Johnson Ricks; four brothers, Lynn Ricks, Connie Ricks, Herman Ricks and John Ricks, Jr; and two sisters, Myrtle Gallagher and Katie Smith.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife of 68 years, Mildred Ricks; three children, Brenda Richard (Nolan, Jr.), Wayne O. Ricks (Karen) and Douglas E. Ricks (Felicia); a sister, Helen Ricks; 11 grandchildren, Matt Ricks (Alisa), Bubba Ricks (Amy), Jeremy Ricks (Jackie), Sheri LeCount (Frank), Adam Richard, Joey Ricks (Brianna), D. J. Ricks (Lyndsey), Nikki Drawdy (Dwayne) , Austin Ricks (Shelby), Amanda Ricks and Audra Burrell; 12 great grandchildren, A. J. Ricks (Julia), Brooke Watford (Lance), MacKenzie King, Meaghen Knowles, MaKayla Ricks, Kirstin LeCount, Jaylin Ricks, Miley Sweat, Tucker Ricks, Lane Ricks, Camden Ricks and Hailey Ricks; and one great great grandchild, Charlotte Rose Watford.
The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 at Francis Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Buddy Lynch and Pastor Jason Sharp officiating. Interment will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
