Sharon Carey Taylor, 71, of Palatka, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness.

Sharon was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and had lived in Palatka 15 years coming from St. Augustine. She was Assistant Director at Billie Swamp Safari on the Big Cypress Seminole Reservation. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Gatorland Alligator Farm in north St. Augustine. She enjoyed the outdoors, Florida history, animals, and her family. She always gave 100% and was never a quitter.

Sharon was loved by many, and her son Mark Taylor said she was the best Mom a son could ever have. She was an amazing Mom to her daughter Tammy and was the best Grammie to her granddaughters Kristen and Karlie. She also adored her great grandson Karsen. Sharon was the love of her husband Tommy’s life, and his best friend.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Taylor and James Taylor; her parents, Harold and Lois Carey; and a grandson, Danny Thomas Looney.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Tommy Taylor; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Mitzi Taylor; a daughter, Tammy Taylor Looney; two granddaughters, Kristen Looney Parker and Karlie Looney; and one great grandson, Karsen Looney.

No services are planned.
