TSGT Vernon Highley, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 85, of Satsuma, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka following an extended illness.

Vernon was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming and had lived in Satsuma for ten years, coming from Las Vegas, NV. He served honorably in the U. S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He enjoyed traveling and had been to all 50 states, Europe, and Moscow, Russia. He also enjoyed woodworking and computers. He attended Hope Lutheran Church in Satsuma.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Kay Highley.

Surviving are three children, Brad Highley (Macie) of Veradale, WA, Jeff Highley (Mitchtilda) of Landshausen, W. Germany, and Leslie Brown (Fred) of Colbert, WA; a brother-in-law, Larry Steckley of Green Cove Springs; and special friend, Margo Gould of Palatka.

No services are planned. Inurnment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
