Arthur E. “Art” LaPaugh, 83, of Interlachen passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness.
He was born in Manhattan, New York City, NY to Arthur S. and Hilda LaPaugh and had been a resident of Interlachen for the past five years, coming from Utica, NY. He served in the United States Army and participated in the occupation of Germany. He retired from General Electric in Utica in 1987 where he worked as an engineer for 35 years. He was a member and Past Grand Master of the Clinton-Hampton Lodge #347, Free and Accepted Masons in Westmoreland, NY. He served on the Kirkland, NY Town Board and was a Commissioner for the Kirkland Police Department and the Kirkland Town Park. He was an avid radio ham operator and was a member of radio clubs in New York State and Interlachen. His call signal was K2GEE.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Laraine LaPaugh of Interlachen; three daughters and son-in-law, Michelle and Brian Raehm of Bluffton, S.C., Nanette Reeves of Williamton, DE, and Michelle Russell of Whitesboro, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Erin Russell of Interlachen; two brothers-in-law and spouse, Mike and Sue Ptak of Westmoreland, NY, and George Ptak of Vernon Center, NY; two sisters-in-law and spouses, Judith and Fred Peck of Waterville, NY, and Cecelia and Lou DeGeogrio of Marcy, NY; four grandchildren, McKenzie and Brandon Raehm of Hilton Hill Island, SC, and Justin and Kylie Russell of Interlachen; and one great grandchild, Zoey Raehm.
